dx headers on a std engine??

is it possible to bolt dx headers on a std engine?? if so what are the gains from it??

All i know is that you would have to change the whole exhasut system because you Catalytic converter is on your header and on a dx its not...you would have to put a cat somewhere in the exhaust line.

That's not true. I have a 91 std, and the cat is not attached to the stock header, unless they did that on earlier years. I had an old Lightspeed header a few years ago. It didn't do much except make me fail smog, so I am back to stock. The dpfi just does not respond to mods of that type. I have heard that the horsepower difference between the standard and DX engines is in the stock cam, so swapping in a DX cam will give you a preety good boost.

it must be the earlier years.. cause i just was looking at a 89 std and a 89 dx in a pick n pull. the STD had the cat on the manifold and the dx did not.. maybe they changed it in 90 or 91
